About Ganj Peth Pune
Ganj Peth is a historic, densely populated neighbourhood situated in the central region of Pune, Maharashtra, functioning as an essential part of the old city’s cultural and historical fabric. Originally established during the reign of Sawai Madhavrao Peshwa, the area is historically referred to as Muzaffarjang before being renamed Ganj Peth. Geographically, it falls under the Pune Center zone and is assigned the specific pin code of 411002. The locality is intimately surrounded by other traditional peths, including Guruwar Peth to the west, Nana Peth to the north, and Bhavani Peth to the east. It is well connected to modern transit nodes, most notably located in close proximity to the Swargate terminal. The terrain of this locale sits on the typical Deccan Plateau landscape, featuring flat to gently undulating topography that characterizes the broader Pune metropolitan area. As a central business district of the Maratha Empire’s successor state, the area was historically an economic hub where weavers, salt traders, and craftsmen conducted their weekly business. Today, the topography is heavily urbanized and tightly constrained, devoid of vacant land for new real estate projects due to its intense population density. Environmentally, the region experiences a tropical wet and dry climate, characterized by hot summers, a prominent monsoon season with moderate rainfall, and mild winter temperatures. Geographically, it serves as the custodian of local history, famously housing the Mahatma Phule Vada, the historic residence of the prominent social reformer Mahatma Jyotirao Phule

Goods and Services Tax (GST) is an indirect tax which was introduced in India on 1 July 2017 and was applicable throughout India which replaced multiple cascading taxes levied by the central and state governments. It was introduced as The Constitution (One Hundred and First Amendment) Act 2017, following the passage of Constitution 122nd Amendment Bill. The GST is governed by a GST Council and its Chairman is the Finance Minister of India. Under GST, goods and services are taxed at the following rates, 0%, 5%, 12% ,18% and 28%. There is a special rate of 0.25% on rough precious and semi-precious stones and 3% on gold. In addition a cess of 15% or other rates on top of 28% GST applies on few items like aerated drinks, luxury cars and tobacco products. GST was initially proposed to replace a slew of indirect taxes with a unified tax and was therefore set to dramatically reshape the country’s 2 trillion dollar economy.
